SARAJEVO, March 9 (Hina) - The cantonal prosecutor's office in
Sarajevo on Friday issued an indictment against Ivan Andabak, a
retired general of Bosnia's Croat Defence Council, for the murder
of Jozo Leutar, the deputy interior minister of Bosnia's Croat-
Muslim federation.
A statement delivered to Hina says another five persons have been
indicted besides Andabak. During investigation it was established
they agreed to murder Leutar "with the intent to subvert the
Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its constitutional order,
out of political reasons and with the aim to block the functioning
of the Federation."
The indictment says Andabak ordered the murder, while the other
five organised the planting of an explosive device in Leutar's car,
which was activated from a distance on 16 March 1999. Leutar
succumbed to the wounds he suffered in the blast 12 days later.
Andabak is the subject of a drug trafficking case at the county
court in Rijeka.
An arrest warrant has been issued for one of the accused in the
Leutar murder indictment. The others are in custody either in
Sarajevo or Zenica.
The issuing of the indictment was applauded by the head of the
United Nations Mission to Bosnia, Jacques Klein, who said in a
written statement to Hina the investigation into the Leutar murder
was open and that more indictments were possible.
Klein reiterated his support to demands by Bosnia's authorities
that Croatia okay the extradition of Andabak so that he might be
prosecuted for the Leutar murder in Sarajevo.
