BELGRADE, Feb 27 (Hina) - Yugoslavia on Tuesday introduced the institute of dual citizenship which envisages the possibility of all Yugoslav citizens to have the citizenship of any other country seccessor of the former Yugoslavia. The
law was adopted in the parliament's upper house on Monday. It was adopted in the lower house and came into effect today. The law also envisages refugees and displaced persons living in Yugoslavia may receive Yugoslav citizenship and keep the citizenship of their mother country. According to the law, other citizens of states of the former Yugoslavia who are not refugees, may receive Yugoslav citizenship if they stayed in the country at least a year. A novelty is that foreigners may also get Yugoslav citizenship, if they are married to a Yugoslav citizen for at least three years.
