VIENNA, Feb 20 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic on Tuesday confirmed he received unofficial information on the possible court surrender of retired General Mirko Norac within the next several days. Unnamed sources at the
Croatian government said Tuesday Norac would appear before the court soon. General Norac has been accused of having ordered the elimination of groups of citizens of Serb nationality in Pazariste, Lipova Glavica and Karlobag (central Croatia) in October 1991, during Croatia's defence war. An arrest warrant has been issued against him. Mesic, currently visiting Vienna, stressed Norac would not surrender to the court but rather respond to a summons. Asked whether Mesic was aware of the fact the international war crimes tribunal was not seeking General Norac, Mesic said he was acquainted with "a letter which arrived" but did not know its contents.(hina) lml
