HEADQUARTERS SAYS IT MIGHT STAGE PROTEST RALLY IN ZAGREB

SPLIT, Feb 13 (Hina) - The president of a national headquarters for the protection of the dignity of Croatia's early 1990s war of independence from the ex-Yugoslavia said on Tuesday the headquarters was not the organiser of a protest rally scheduled for Thursday in Zagreb. The protest in the capital has been organised by a coordinating body comprising 16 Homeland Defence War-related associations, Mirko Condic told reporters in Split. He announced, however, his headquarters would have to stage a protest rally in Zagreb if the government failed to accept the conclusions reached at a protest in Split last weekend held against an arrest warrant issued for Mirko Norac, a retired general suspected of war crimes against civilians. Condic's headquarters today also issued a statement demanding that the state television and all media broadcast the integral version of a declaration from the Split rally as it represented "the basic political position on the protection of national values and interests as well as of the Homeland Defence War."
