ZAGREB, Feb 13 (Hina) - The programme of this year's Rijeka carnival, Croatia's only international event of that kind, was presented at the Croatian Tourism Board in Zagreb on Tuesday. This year's carnival, which is held in the
northern Adriatic port of Rijeka, started on February 9 and ends on February 25 with the traditional procession.
ZAGREB, Feb 13 (Hina) - The programme of this year's Rijeka
carnival, Croatia's only international event of that kind, was
presented at the Croatian Tourism Board in Zagreb on Tuesday.
This year's carnival, which is held in the northern Adriatic port of
Rijeka, started on February 9 and ends on February 25 with the
traditional procession. #L#
The head of the Rijeka Tourism Board, Ivanka Bernard, expressed
satisfaction with last year's financial and tourist results of the
carnival and announced additional events for this year.
The new carnival offer includes a 'masked rally Paris-Bakar', a
carnival park, exhibitions, concerts, theatre plays and men's and
women's indoor-soccer matches. The day before the last day of the
carnival, a children procession will take place.
The event ends with a large international carnival procession. So
far, 153 groups with 9500 people from all over Croatia, Slovenia,
Austria, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Japan (from Rijeka's sister-
town of Kawasaki) have announced their participation.
Attending today's presentation of the carnival programme was Boris
Klimko, vice-president of the European association of carnival
cities.
