breaking through a media blockade on Croatia's missing Homeland War
soldiers and civilians buried in the region, president of the
Zagreb City Assembly Goran hill told reporters Monday.
The Zagreb delegation, along with representatives of another 15
cities, participated in a ceremony held on the occasion of the 253rd
anniversary of Vojvodina's capital Novi Sad .
During the two-day visit to Vojvodina, the Croatian delegation and
president of the Vojvodina Assembly Gordana Comic tackled the issue
of missing Croatian Homeland Defence War soldiers and civilians. It
was put to light that there were several locations, namely at the
cemeteries in Srijemska Kamenica and Subotica, at which several
unidentified persons had been buried, Hill said.
Hill expressed hope that the Vojvodina authorities would consult
with the State Commission for the issue of missing persons,
because, according to him, there was a political will for the
solving of this issue.
The two parties also discussed the return of the Croatian cultural
heritage. The Croatian Culture Ministry will be informed of this.
The Zagreb delegation also visited the grave of the composer of
Croatia's national anthem, Josip Runjanin, and held talks with
numerous Croat association.
