ZAGREB, Jan 24 (Hina) - For the Koncar electrical equipment industry 2001 should be more successful than 2000, especially in view of the impending start of work on projects with the HEP state power company and Croatian Railways, and
the manufacturing of 70 trams for the city of Zagreb. This is in keeping with the government's investment encouragement policy and in the function of engaging the home industry, Koncar's chairman of the board Darinko Bago told a news conference on Wednesday marking the company's 80th birthday. The total value of electrical equipment for the aforementioned projects is about DM700 million, he said, adding the projects would ensure a five-year employment for 2,000 people. Bago said Koncar was strongly export-oriented, with export accounting for 50 percent of its entire sales. Last year, Koncar sold 1.2 billion kuna (DM316 million) worth of products and services

Bago said Koncar was strongly export-oriented, with export
accounting for 50 percent of its entire sales.
Last year, Koncar sold 1.2 billion kuna (DM316 million) worth of
products and services, with export accounting for 45 percent of the
figure. A seven-percent increase is expected this year.
Koncar presently employs 4,500 people. Its sales in the 1991-2000
period amounted to DM3.2 billion.
