KOPRIVNICA, Jan 23 (Hina) - Croatia's main negotiator for
Stabilisation and Association Agreement Neven Mimica and Assistant
Economy Minister Olgica Spevec on Tuesday held talks with
representatives of Croatia's food-processing industry 'Podravka'
from Croatia's northern town of Koprivnica.
During the meeting, the officials discussed Podravka's business
activities considering Croatia's recent joining the World Trade
Organisation (WTO) and negotiations on free trade with CEFTA member
countries and other European countries.
Podravka officials believe that the country's joining the WTO and
negotiations on free trade is a positive step which will enable an
easier placement on many European markets and better competition of
products at those markets.
In 1999 Podravka's export amounted to over 610 million kuna of which
the majority was placed on markets of central and eastern Europe.
Mimica stressed Podravka was one of Croatia's leading companies
advocating the opening of markets and liberalisation of trade.
