CANADIAN POLICE TO ARRIVE IN CROATIA FOR JOSIP BUDIMCIC

ZAGREB, Jan 9 (Hina) - Canadian police will conduct probes in Croatia in connection with a criminal action being carried out in Canada against a Croatian Serb, Josip Budimcic, suspected of having committed war crimes against humanity and torture in line with Canadian laws, the Croatian Justice Ministry said Tuesday. Investigators of the Canadian police war crimes department will visit Croatia from January 14 to 21. The Justice Ministry reported the probe was not connected with those of the Hague-based international war crimes tribunal. Canadians had submitted a request to the Osijek County Court to talk with witnesses in the Osijek area with the aim of establishing Budimcic's activities during the Homeland Defence War in occupied areas of Croatia. Budimcic has already been tried in absentia by the Osijek County Court and convicted him of war crimes against Croatian prisoners of war which he committed in Eastern
