ZAGREB, Jan 7 (Hina) - The Croatian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Zoning on December 29 last year launched a drive to raise funds for the areas in the southern Dubrovnik County, which were damaged in fires last summer, the
Ministry reported. The drive was organised in cooperation with the 'Croatian Forest Management' company, the City of Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik-Neretva County. More than 22,000 kuna (about DM 5,600) have already been raised. The reforestation of fire-hit areas will start in February, with the planting of cypresses and pines at the Srdj-Zarkovica site. More than 16,000 hectares of wood in the Dubrovnik area was consumed by fires this summer. The Ministry has launched a similar drive also in Sibenik-Knin County, where the first pine trees have been planted in the Jelinjak forest near Primosten.(hina) rml
