"We have gathered here to commemorate the anniversary of the death of the people who sacrificed their lives in Croatia to our benefit. For Croatia, those were the most difficult days of its struggle for independence and the country was recognised as an independent state a week after the tragic event," Vidosevic said after a wreath- laying ceremony. Croatia is today part of Partnership for Peace, it is undergoing a process of joining the European Union and is an important factor of stability in the region, he added. (hina) rml
