CRO GOVT DISCUSSES DRAFT BILL ON AMENDMENTS TO PRIMARY EDUCATION

ZAGREB, Jan 4 (Hina) - At the closed part of Thursday's session, chaired by Prime Minister Ivica Racan, the Croatian government held a working discussion on a draft bill on amendments to the law on primary education. The government also endorsed a motion on the cooperation programme with non-governmental and non-profit sector, the Croatian government media and public relations office said in a statement. According to the statement, the programme is based on values of modern democracy and civil initiatives and is oriented toward partnership cooperation and ideas on the equal amount of responsibility of the authorities and non-governmental sector, aiming at the development and progress of the entire community". At his own request, assistant labour and welfare minister Zeljko Racki was relieved from his duty while Ratimir Santic was appointed to the duty of assistant minister. Also at his own request, assistant justice minister was relieved from his duty. Matija Salaj was relieved from the duty of the head of the Urban Planning Institute, namely the duty of the assistant environmental protection and urban planning minister. The government appointed Dr. Melita Mihaljevic to the duty of the head the Kopacki Rit Natural Resource and relieved Dr. Jozsef Mikuska from the same duty, the statement read. (hina) it
