ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - The mysterious "General Hopp" on Wednesday
forwarded another letter to the authorities on behalf of the
alleged Croatian People's Liberation Council (HNOV), threatening
terrorist actions and accusing them of "anti-Croatian activity."
A statement, signed with "General Hopp", was delivered to the media
by post today, harshly slamming President Stipe Mesic, calling him
the so-called Croatian president, as well as the ruling six-party
coalition, calling it the "Yugo-communist six-member gang."
HNOV, among else, demands that all officials who engaged in "anti-
Croatian activity against the interests of the Republic of Croatia,
Bosnia, Herzegovina, Boka, Srijem, and the Croatian part of
Vojvodina" step down.
"General Hopp" also threatens Croatian Serb returnees and
representatives of the international community, calling them
"foreign conquerors and observers on Croatian lands."
"General Hopp" claims HNOV has already started forming military
units and calls on "Croatian patriots", especially members of the
military and the police, to self-organise in its units.
Commenting on the HNOV statement, an Interior Ministry spokesman
briefly said the police "are taking measures and actions within its
jurisdiction to establish the authors and take measures envisaged
by the law."
Spokesman Slavko Rako had released statements of similar content on
Sept. 29 and Oct. 11 after the first two HNOV letters, which called
on a coup d'etat and made death threats to President Mesic, Prime
Minister Ivica Racan and nine political, media and public figures.
