The outgoing U.N. Secretary-General's special envoy for Bosnia-
Herzegovina told reporters in Sarajevo his assessment was the truth
and that he was ashamed because of it. It is a slap in the face of
every victim of Karadzic's policies and it is very bad that nothing
has been done about it, he said, adding this was due to lack of
political will.
Klein thus reiterated the criticisms of the Alliance he made in an
interview with the British daily Times earlier on.
After presenting Bosnia's State Border Service with a work
certificate, Klein said there was no reason why the strongest
military alliance in history should not be able to arrest the most
wanted war criminal. He added this was also why hard-liners in
Bosnia's Serb entity objected to changes so strongly.
In the Times interview Klein had said that as long as the Serb leader
was not taken to the Hague war crimes tribunal, Bosnia would make no
progress. Karadzic represents an international disgrace for the
entire West as he is the symbol of the West's impotence before the
face of evil, he had said.
