"Upon Hungary's and Slovenia's entry to the Schengen regime there
will be no significant changes for us, as border lines will function
pursuant to the existent agreements with those countries," the
commission's head, Olga Kresovic-Rogulja, said.
Croatia is a part of that regime thanks to the current cooperation
with those neighbouring countries in the double control of the
frontier which will continue with the introduction of tougher
border system, she added.
The commission's head refuted statements of some opposition
leaders who describe the recent protocol on the temporary regime on
Prevlaka as harmful for Croatia.
"Some political forces obviously do not like to see the defusion in
Piran Bay or the protocol on Prevlaka," Kresovic-Rogulja said.
The commission's member, Zlatko Uzelac, believes that the
background of such criticism is a pre-election campaign, but
similar things are happening in Slovenia, too.
Concerning the negotiations on the frontier in the future, most
problems can be expected in the talks with Belgrade, as Croatian and
Yugoslav standpoints on the matter differ, Kresovic-Rogulja said.
