SISAK, Dec 23 (Hina) - The Croatian Association of Unions (HUS) has demanded of the Government to keep control of the Sisak Ironworks d.d. not so that the government can meddle into the economy but so that it can guarantee the
sustainability of the factory and so that it can supervise whether the new strategic partner or owner is adhering to its obligations towards the state and its workers, HUS' regional commissioner Rajko Mladenovic said on Monday.

d.d. not so that the government can meddle into the economy but so

regional commissioner Rajko Mladenovic said on Monday. #L#
He commented on the possibility that some workers could be left
without a job once the new strategic partners took over. He
estimated that the problem of the ironworks was that there were
redundant workers in administration and not enough qualified for
production and machine operations.
Mladenovic pointed out that finding the solution to the ironworks
problem should include not only union representatives but the local
community - Sisak-Moslavina County representatives because it was
vital to agree on shock absorbing methods for the wave of social
problems that could result with the entry of a new owner.
The HUS demands, Mladenovic said, that before any sale contract is
signed, redundancy packages need to be discussed and agreed upon.
