SDP president and Prime Minister Ivica Racan on behalf of the
government wished for the HSS to continue participating in the
difficult task of providing for the well-being of Croatia's
citizens. The HSS is a stable and important political factor, he
said
The joint work of the SDP and the HSS in the coalition government is
difficult and responsible, said Racan. He added that despite the
hardships, significant results had been achieved, particularly the
macroeconomic and political stability of the state.
Those results make it possible to enter the second stage of the
struggle for a living standard which will enable people to live from
their work, said Racan.
He also stated it was important to show unity regarding basic
national interests, not only in the ruling coalition but in the
broader sense as well.
HDZ presidency member Vladimir Seks in his speech said the HSS would
have in the HDZ a loyal partner and ally when it came to fair
aspirations aimed at the progress of the Croatian people.
Seks conveyed his party's wish that the HSS continue being one of
the key and decisive forces in Croatia.
The delegates of the HSS electoral assembly, who will elect a new
leadership, were also addressed by representatives of other
political parties, the opposition leaders, and representatives of
similar parties from abroad.
