ZAGREB, Nov 29 (Hina) - Criticising the incumbent government over privatisation issues, MP Drago Krpina of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on Friday claimed that the privatisation process was governed mostly by the principle "sell
off all state property, preferably to foreigners". The Opposition must prevent the government from selling off what property has remained, Krpina said.

Dragutin Vukusic of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) said that
during the HDZ rule 714 companies had gone bankrupt, while some
companies had been given away. "How else can we explain the fact
that certain individuals came to own ten, and some even 200
companies," Vukusic asked.
Independent MP Ivo Loncar dismissed claims by the ruling coalition
MPs that the rehabilitation of large agricultural companies was a
good decision by the government. The government's decision is
tragic, sad and criminal, Loncar claimed, noting that the
rehabilitation of just four cooperatives had cost two billion kuna
(EUR269.17 million), while now they were being sold for a mere 550
million kuna (EUR74.02 million).
Zeljko Glavan of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) noted
that in the past three years not one person had been charged for
criminal activities in the privatisation process.
