The witness described the process of political organisation of
Croatian Serbs, their rebellion and arming, negotiations with
Croatian authorities and relations with Belgrade.
During the testimony of this witness, the prosecution introduced a
number of documents from the then Serb para-state in Croatia,
proving the connection between Belgrade and Knin, the stronghold of
the Serb para-state.
The testimony of witness C-061 was interrupted several times with
closed sessions to protect his identity. Besides, it was very
difficult to folow his testimony because of the electronic
distortion of his voice.
The trial against Milosevic for crimes committed in Croatia, Bosnia
and Kosovo, continued on Monday after two potpnemen because of his
being exhausted and high blood pressure.
In open sections of the trial, the witness described how Serbs in
Croatia had politically organised themselves in the Serb
Democratic Party (SDS) and how they had cooperated with the Bosnian
Serb leadership.
The goal of the SDS programme was territorial autonomy for Serbs in
Croatia, and this was not succession, the witness said.
He confirmed that the interior ministry of the SAO Krajina had acted
"under orders" of the Serbian Interior Ministry, and that he had
seen the then director of the Serbian secret police, Jovica
Stanisic, with one of the Serb leaders, Milan Martic, in Knin in
1990.
