Yesterday Finance Minister Mato Ckvenac said, however, that what
had been saved through austerity measures would have to be spent to
cover costs in public health, which exceeded planned spending.
The main characteristic of the revised budget for 2002 is a cut in
its deficit.
It was planned that a deficit incurred by the central state should
be 4.25 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), but according
to the revision, this deficit will fall below four percent of GDP,
to 3.92 percent, for the first time.
