RECONSTRUCTION MINISTER DISCUSSES COOPERATION WITH CHURCH

ZAGREB, Nov 11 (Hina) - Croatian Public Works, Reconstruction and Construction Minister Radimir Cacic and the president of Caritas Croatia and vice president of the Croatian Bishops' Conference (HBK), Archbishop Ivan Prendja, on Monday expressed satisfaction with cooperation between the government and the Church in humanitarian actions, the allocation to Church-owned land to displaced persons in the areas of special state concern and the reconstruction and construction of religious complexes. #L# Following their talks in the Public Works Ministry, Archbishop Prendja told reporters that he was satisfied that Minister Cacic once again reiterated that the government would offer aid through Caritas in providing food for residents in the areas of special state concern. Minister Cacic stated that the aim was to strengthen communication with Caritas and the HBK which was always fruitful and correct. He noted that this denounced reports in the public that problems existed in supplies for Caritas Croatia. He expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation with the Church and the Church's donation of land to be used for housing for displaced persons particularly in the Zadar, Zagreb and Djakovo dioceses. Cacic noted that the talks also focused on the reconstruction of churches and schools and a list of priorities was established in co- operation with the HBK. Archbishop Prendja expressed satisfaction that next year reconstruction would commence on the Zadar Archdiocesan High School in Zadar, a project valued at 1.4 million euros. (hina) sp it sb
