The document is part of the cooperation the two ministries began
seven years ago, said Jurcic. In the meantime, the Netherlands has
extended considerable financial and consulting assistance in the
transition into market economy, particularly in agriculture, the
power industry, and environmental protection, he added.
The Netherlands is fifth among investors in Croatia, with direct
investments since 1993 totalling US$365 million.
Trade between the two countries in this year's first eight months
increased by 11 percent as against the same time last year,
totalling US$157.9 million. Croatia imported US$129.9 million
worth of goods, an increase of 19 percent, but exported only 27.9
million, a drop of 15.6 percent.
Buijink is heading a Dutch delegation comprised of representatives
of about 20 companies dealing in consulting in agriculture,
financial services, trade, and the chemical and textile
industries.
They held talks with representatives of more than 60 Croatian
companies at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in Zagreb.
Tomorrow the delegation will visit Osijek in eastern Croatia.
