ZAGREB, Nov 7 (Hina) - A Council of Europe ministerial meeting ended
in Strasbourg on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by the vice
premier and foreign minister of Luxembourg, Lydia Polfer. #L#
The main topics of the two-day meeting were preparations for the
holding of the third summit of Council of Europe member countries,
the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Europe
by ensuring the efficiency of the European Court for Human Rights
and CoE's contribution to the efficiency of the struggle against
terrorism.
The Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the head of a
Croatian delegation, Assistant Foreign Minister Mario Nobilo, in
his speech pointed to Europe's positive achievements in the
expansion of membership in Euro-Atlantic integration as well as the
strengthening of the pan-European character.
Confirming Croatia's orientation towards full membership in the
European Union and NATO, he also pointed to Croatia's great
benefits realised through the CoE. Nobilo supported the initiative
to hold the third summit which aim at strengthening of the idea of a
Europe without borders.
