ZAGREB, Oct 26 (Hina) - Zagreb's city committee of the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) on Saturday issued a statement requesting
that members of the entire Zagreb city leadership resign because of
forging the General Urban Plan of Zagreb (GUP). #L#
"The dismissal of one city authorities member cannot be enough for
the kind of crime which happened in the leadership," the party said
after Zagreb Mayor Vlasta Pavic requested that the head of the
city's Bureau for Urban Planning and Environment Protection,
Miljenko Mesic, be dismissed.
Stressing that it is impossible that only one man be found guilty
for forging the GUP, the HDZ requested that all illegal actions be
established, as well as groups and individuals who led them in
drafting the GUP.
"The formal 'ridding' of Miljenko Mesic is in fact hiding all
criminal acts and criminals who participated and who were to have
illegal gain from the adoption of the criminally prepared GUP," the
statement, signed by the president of Zagreb's HDZ, Pavo Gagulic,
said.
The GUP was withdrawn from assembly procedure at the end of
September because of differences in the final motion as adopted by
the city leadership and the final motion sent to the City Assembly,
after which the mayor requested that Mesic be dismissed.
