SPLIT, Oct 24 (Hina) - About 30 Slovene business people interested in cooperation with business people from Split-Dalmatia County visited Split on Thursday, within the framework of business meetings organised by the Slovene Chamber of Commerce of Pomurje in cooperation with Split's Chamber of Commerce. #L# Croatia's import from Slovenia is still twice higher than export, and such meetings should deepen cooperation and increase Croatian export to Slovenia, it was said at the meeting. Last year, Croatia's export to Slovenia amounted to US$426 million. Split-Dalmatia County's export accounted for US$19.5 million or 4.6 percent. Croatia's import from Slovenia amounted to US$711.5 million. Slovenia is interested in Croatia as a tourist destination. This summer, about 877,000 Slovenes visited Croatia. They realised more than 5.1 million over-night stays. Slovene businessmen invested a total of US$360 million in Croatia's economy by the end of 2000, which accounts for more than a half of Slovenia's total foreign investments. Only last year, Slovenia invested about US$40 million in Croatia. Croatia's investments in Slovenia last year amounted to only US$2.5 million. (hina)it
