ZAGREB, Oct 23 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Wednesday
expressed "concern about the way in which certain media and circles
close to General Janko Bobetko speculate about a possible

General Bobetko", and stressed that "speculation on the forceful
handing of the indictment to General Bobetko, his arrest and

The government's public relations office issued a press release
stating that "such unfounded speculation upsets the Croatian
public, harms General Bobetko, and burdens and harms Croatia and
its cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the
former Yugoslavia".
As Prime Minister Ivica Racan asserted at Tuesday's news
conference, the government is well-acquainted with General
Bobetko's health condition and is taking this into consideration
while trying to settle his case, the press release said.
"The government reiterates its regret that despite numerous
efforts, positive cooperation with General Bobetko has not been
established. It wishes to stress that Croatia has opted for a
democratic Europe, which implies respect for international
obligations, including cooperation with the international war
crimes tribunal, and expects everyone to act responsibly," the
press release said.
