Odorcic was appointed in line with public competition and at the
proposal of agency director Mirko Bolfek. The appointment was
preceded by an in-house secret ballot as regulated by the new law on
Hina. Seventy-eight percent of 114 journalists and editors voted in
favour of the appointment.
Odorcic (57) has been with Hina since its establishment in 1990 and
has been its editor-in-chief for the past two years. He graduated in
journalism from Zagreb's Faculty of Political Sciences and has
worked as a journalist since 1970.
