ZAGREB, Oct 10 (Hina) - Union leaders applauded the Croatian
government's decision to back down from rising the price of
electricity, but are still demanding a comprehensive change to the
new tariff system. #L#
"The government has noted the mistake, but without a change to the
tariff system, the price of electricity will not be restored to the
previous level," the president of the Independent Croatian Unions,
Kresimir Sever, told Hina on Thursday.
He believes that electricity will still be too expensive for most
consumers, while the only ones who will not be affected are people
with single-tariff meters.
The president of the Croatian Association of Trade Unions, Zdenko
Mucnjak, said that electricity bills would still be too high unless
a weekend-tariff was introduced and the time period during which
electricity is charged less prolonged.
