ZAGREB, Oct 9 (Hina) - A new state-of-the-art research institute of the Croatian leading pharmaceutical company, Pliva, is the biggest investment in science in Croatia, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said on Wednesday opening this
centre in Zagreb.
ZAGREB, Oct 9 (Hina) - A new state-of-the-art research institute of
the Croatian leading pharmaceutical company, Pliva, is the biggest
investment in science in Croatia, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic
said on Wednesday opening this centre in Zagreb. #L#
Pliva has invested over one hundred million US dollars.
Mesic said this Croatian multinational company set an example in
Croatia and pointed to possibilities of ties between the economy
and science as a condition for the enhancement of the Croatian
economy's competitiveness.
The Pliva Chief Executive Officer, Zeljko Covic, said the strength
of this independent Croatian pharmaceutical company lay in science
and progress.
Half the space of the new institute, large about 24,000 square
metres, accounts for laboratories. The institute employs nearly
500 researches and 50 percent of them are scientists below 35 years
of age.
