ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina) - Part of the domestic political scene is
scoring points on issues regarding cooperation with the UN war
crimes tribunal at The Hague and relations with neighbouring
Slovenia, thus weakening Croatia's position, Libra president Jozo
Rados said on Saturday. #L#
Addressing the first session of the newly-established party's
Council, Rados said he was glad consensus had been reached in the
case of General Janko Bobetko, who has been indicted by the Hague
tribunal but not extradited. He stated, however, that part of the
political scene with its harsh demands appeared to wish to break the
consensus just to have something to talk about.
Those are irresponsible politicians working against national
interests who cannot help but wait for indictments from The Hague so
that the government might stew and they score political points,
said Rados.
He added, however, that many of those who now offered solutions had
been incapable of doing right when they were in rule and had
followed the UN tribunal's demands without objection instead.
Rados said Libra supported the government in its bids to preserve
the legitimacy of the Homeland War without endangering vital
national interests.
The party, which today constituted its bodies, will support the
government at a parliamentary confidence vote in the prime minister
next Wednesday.
