ZAGREB, Oct 2 (Hina) - A Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) MP, Ljerka
Mintas Hodak, on Wednesday advised the president of that party, Ivo
Sanader that she could not and ddid not wish to be included in a
party led by him. #L#
The reason for her decision, as she notes in her letter, is
Sanader's latest move to enforce the scandalous dismissal of the
legally elected county committee of the party in Sibenik and Split
as well as his readiness to exclude everyone from the party that did
not vote for him or support him without any objections.
Mintas-Hodak accused Sanader of consciously and deliberately
causing a deep rift among party members.
Unofficial sources reported that Mintas Hodak will continue to be a
independent MP and that she has no intention to join any other party
for the time being.
The HDZ secretariat reacted to her letter, stating that Mintas
Hodak had already tried to win the confidence of HDZ members on two
occasions without much success. According to the HDZ statement,
Mintas Hodak requested support as the president of the party and
later as the vice president of the party. The secretariat expressed
regret that Mintas Hodak did not manage to suppress her
frustrations and that her decision confirmed that personal
interests are more important to her that those of the party.
