BELGRADE, Sept 30 (Hina) - The military prosecutor's office in
Belgrade on Monday issued an espionage indictment against a retired
general and former Serbian vice-premier, Momcilo Perisic. #L#
Together with an American Embassy official in Belgrade, Perisic was
arrested in the Saric motel on March 14 on suspicion of espionage,
but was soon released. An investigation was also carried out into a
civilian, Vladan Vlajkovic, and a Yugoslav Colonel, Miodrag
Sekulic, for divulging a military secret and aiding Perisic.
One of Perisic's lawyers, Dragoslav Cetkovic, said that the issuing
of the indictment and Perisic's possible arrest were "part of
illegal acts in the process" and added that he would contest the
indictment since the case file, which consisted of more than 13,000
pages, had not been made available to the defence.
