According to Aleksandar Durman, the head of the research team and
archaeology professor, the head was found in a deep ditch,
separated from the body, for which he doubts will be found.
"This dove is obviously identical to the one found some 70 years ago
because the casting residue on the neck. The deep floors of Vucedol
culture are surprising and we will have our work cut out for us.
Findings indicate a high concentration of residents," Durman
said.
After a pause of eleven years because of war, renowned Croatian
archaeologists again gathered in Vucedol.
The site was discovered in 1898 and was researched twice. The
Vucedol dove, the symbol of the town of Vukovar, was found in 1938.
