LJUBLJANA, Sept 10 (Hina) - A former US Secretary of State, William Perry, on Tuesday told a Slovenian commercial TV channel that he was disappointed that the Croatian side did not accept an agreement on the border that was initialled
by Slovene and Croatian premiers Janez Drnovsek and Ivica Racan but that he did not expect any problems in this regard because both sides wanted to preserve good relations.
LJUBLJANA, Sept 10 (Hina) - A former US Secretary of State, William
Perry, on Tuesday told a Slovenian commercial TV channel that he was
disappointed that the Croatian side did not accept an agreement on
the border that was initialled by Slovene and Croatian premiers
Janez Drnovsek and Ivica Racan but that he did not expect any
problems in this regard because both sides wanted to preserve good

He said he was quite disappointed that the Croatian parliament did
not ratify the agreement because it was good for both sides. For
Slovenia the demarcation in Piran Bay is an economic issue while for
Croatia this is not an economic but political issue, Perry said.
Three years ago, Perry conducted a private mission with the silent
approval of the State Department when he attempted to mediate
between Slovenia and Croatia in finding an unconventional solution
that would have given Slovenia access to international waters in
the Adriatic sea but his mission then fell through after only one
visit to Ljubljana and Zagreb.
