DUBROVNIK REGIONAL CONFERENCE OF UNIVERSITY CHANCELLORS ENDS

DUBROVNIK, Aug 23 (Hina) - A two-day regional conference of university chancellors ended in Dubrovnik on Friday. #L# The chancellors of some twenty universities from South-East European countries have confirmed the responsibility of their institutions for the social-economic and intellectual development of local communities and the region, particularly considering the unsatisfactory position of young generations, the director of the Inter-University Centre, Dr. Ivo Banac, said at a news conference. Participants in the gathering called on European institutions to immediately include regional universities in the Erasmus and Socrates programmes. The Inter-University Centre wishes to be included in student and lecturer exchange programmes already agreed on among countries in the European Union. (hina) sp rml sb
