(ICC) would be a choice between membership in NATO and the EU have no basis, American Senator John McCain said in Ljubljana on Friday.
LJUBLJANA, Aug 23 (Hina) - Doubts expressed by friendly countries
that the decision on signing an agreement between Slovenia and the
United States on US soldiers not being under the jurisdiction of the
International Criminal Court (ICC) would be a choice between
membership in NATO and the EU have no basis, American Senator John
McCain said in Ljubljana on Friday. #L#
America's stance is that such a connection is non-existent, McCain
said after a meeting with Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel.
The United States will continue attempting to sign such an
agreement with as many countries as possible, he added.
The ICC was established to try crimes such as those committed in
Rwanda and Yugoslavia when former president Slobodan Milosevic was
in power.
