RIJEKA, August 21 (Hina) - At Wednesday's continuation of the trial
against the so-called Gospic Group for war crimes against civilians
in Gospic in 1991, the Rijeka County Court viewed video reports by
Croatian Television (HTV) news programmes from the period of
September through October 1991 relating to the Gospic area. #L#
The reports mostly showed the Gospic battle field and attacks by
Serb forces, as well as the destruction of the town. In addition,
there were several unedited shots taken by HTV that were never
broadcast on news reports. Amongst the material shown were shots of
seven corpses - Croats killed from the villages of Bukovac, members
of the Pocrnic and Hecimovic families who were brought into the
Gospic hospital. They were killed mid-October 1991, under
inexplicable circumstances.
Nikica Dosen (known as Zec) testified during Wednesday's
proceedings presided by Judge Ika Saric. Witnesses have testified
that Dosan, together with two other people, abducted Nikola
Miscevic from his home.
Dosen said that he had only learnt about the abduction of civilians
from the press. To almost every question he was asked he said he did
not remember. Asked by deputy county prosecutor Doris Hrast, he
said that he had problems with his memory, but had not sought
medical assistance.
The trial will continue on Thursday when a video recording will be
shown portraying the exhumation of bodies of civilians killed on
Lipova Glavica. The bodies were exhumed from a cemetery in Debelo
Brdo near Udbine during an investigation two years ago. Another
recording to be shown will be a news report by Serbs from the then
so-called Krajina region. The report is about the discovery of 24
bodies on Lipova Glavica and an autopsy conducted at the military-
medical academy in Belgrade.
