THE HAGUE, July 24 (Hina) - Bosnian Serb Milan Simic admitted to the torture of civilians in Bosanski Samac, and the U.N. war crimes tribunal prosecution dropped all other counts of the indictments, under which Simic and another three
local Serb officials committed crimes against humanity and grave violations of the Geneva conventions in the region, the ICTY reported on Wednesday.
THE HAGUE, July 24 (Hina) - Bosnian Serb Milan Simic admitted to the
torture of civilians in Bosanski Samac, and the U.N. war crimes
tribunal prosecution dropped all other counts of the indictments,
under which Simic and another three local Serb officials committed
crimes against humanity and grave violations of the Geneva
conventions in the region, the ICTY reported on Wednesday. #L#
Simic, 42, was the chairman of the Executive Committee of the
Bosanski Samac municipality assembly.
He was indicted along with Blagoje Simic, Miroslav Tadic and Simo
Zaric for ethnic cleansing. i.e. the persecution of the Muslim and
Croat population from Bosanski Samac and Odzak in 1992 and 1993.
The trial started in September 2001.
