The four year project by the European Commission and the academic
network of country members - GEANT network - is the most advanced
world computer network through which CARNet is connected to the
international Internet link.
GEANT with a skeleton of 10Gbit/s enables connections for over
three thousand academic and research institutes in over 30
countries.
With the new improvement CARNet has enabled the fastest
international connections in Croatia for about 170 tertiary and
research institutes connected to the network.
CARNet reminded that this year it will mark ten years since Croatia
accessed the Internet thanks to its network. On November 17, 1992,
the first international Internet connection was established in
Croatia with 9.6 Kbit/s. Since then the speed of Internet
connections in Croatia have increased by 62 thousand times.
