BELGRADE, July 4 (Hina) - Two thirds of Serbian citizens would support Serbia's admission to the European Union if a referendum on the issue were to be held today, while nine percent would be against. These are the results of an
opinion poll the agency "Strategic Marketing" presented on Thursday.

However, more than a half of all respondents fear that the process
of the EU enlargement could result in an increase in crime and drug
smuggling. They were also divided on whether admission to the EU
could lead to the loss of national identity. Thirty-seven percent
of respondents said they feared admission to the EU could cause the
loss of their national identity, while 36 percent had no such
concerns.
Most of those interviewed, primarily highly educated and young
people, associate admission to the EU with better living
conditions, higher standards, and possibilities of travel.
