This opinion was made in relation to a geographical distribution of
risk of cow madness by an EU committee.
The estimation of Croatia ends with an evaluation dating back to
2000 with the cessation of the possibility of the illness being
brought into Croatia and any evaluation after 2001 is noted as -
very stable. The ministry stated that Croatia is continuing to
implement all measures to disclose any possible cases of the
illness as well as its prevention or spreading. The ministry's
statement stresses that Croatia opted for the highest measure of
protection of its region and does not allow any imports of live
animals from any country where cow madness has been recorded which
has brought it to a situation of fear of economic pressure. The
ministry also believes that the Croatian veterinarian service is
capable of disclosing any possible case of cow madness in a timely
manner and to undertake any necessary measures not to threaten the
health of its people and animals, the ministry's statement notes.
