establishes have made illegal gain will have to pay a special, very

regulating this issue very soon. #L#
According to unofficial reports, the bill would refer to physical
persons taken to task by the State Audit Office for illegal
activities committed during privatisation, as well as to the
illegal gain of their families.
Under the bill, owners of real estate worth 600,000 kuna
(EUR82,200) or more would have to pay a fixed amount of 240,000 kuna
(EUR32,870) plus an additional 60 percent to value exceeding
600,000 kuna.
The highest fixed amount and the highest percentage would be paid
for real estate worth more than 1.2 million kuna. An additional
680,000 (EUR93,150) would be paid for such property. Property whose
value exceeds the 1.2 million limit would be taxed by an additional
90 percent.
The bill should go into force early next year. Its working title is
the Law on One-off Taxation of Property and Revenue of Domestic
Physical and Legal Persons Acquired During Privatisation.
The bill also envisages a deadline by which all who are guilty of
wrongdoing in privatisation could report illegal gain. In case
these persons failed to do so, they would be subjected to high
taxation and additional fines.
