The camp, which was located at the site of today's Agriculture
College, was set up for citizens and soldiers of the Independent
State of Croatia (1941-1945).
Society president Vladimir Fucek reminded at today's ceremony that
a Homeguard cannon battery used to be at the site of the camp and
that its members surrendered to partisan forces at the end of the
war, hoping nothing would happen to them. However, they all felt the
persecution of the then partisan authorities, he said.
Fucek also spoke about other concentration camps which were set up
in Zagreb after WWII. Around 10,000 young Croatian Homeguard
soldiers were imprisoned in those camps, he said.
Attending the ceremony were former inmates and representatives of
Homeland War associations.
