The Internet page of the Crans Montana Forum 2002 brings a picture
of President Mesic and states Croatia is now the leading country in
South Eastern Europe.
"The political stability of its Government, the international
reputation of its leaders and the exceptional achievements of its
economic development are more than attractive for the World
investment," says the Forum's home-page.
Mesic will be accompanied by the ministers of tourism, European
integration, and public works, reconstruction and construction -
Pave Zupan-Ruskovic, Neven Mimica, and Radimir Cacic respectively
- as well as officials of the economy, foreign, and agriculture
ministries.
The National Tourist Board will hold a special presentation of the
domestic offer.
The Croatian delegation will also include private entrepreneurs
and representatives of public companies such as the oil industry
INA and food manufacturer Podravka.
The 13th Crans Montana Forum begins this Thursday afternoon.
Besides Croatia, the Ivory Coast, and Rwanda are this year's guest
countries. The event will pool around 1,200 businessmen and
representatives of government and non-governmental organisations
from more than 120 countries.
The Forum was launched in 1989 as a response to the new economic and
political make-up of post-Cold War Europe. The founder of the
Forum, the Universal Forum Foundation and its leader Jean-Paul
Carteron, originally intended to create a forum for meetings
between East and West Europe. Eventually, the Crans Montana Forum
was expanded to Central Asia, the Middle East, the South
Mediterranean, and Africa.
The motto of this year's gathering is social responsibility as an
answer to the frustrations of the 20st century - commitment to a
more humane world.
Participants will discuss the achievement of economic growth and
development accompanied by social responsibility, focusing on the
fields of telecommunications, agriculture, power, transport, and
tourism.
