These are the most important issues and tasks which should not be
contentious for Croatia's present and future, Mesic said at a
reception for senior state officials.
The most important tasks of the Croatian government is a stable
economic development, a reform of the justice system and other
state institutions, and further affirmation of the country in
foreign policy, Mesic said.
Assessing that a balance between short-term and long-term goals
should be found in planning the economic policy, Mesic said that
every future arrangement between the government, and International
Monetary Fund and the World Bank should have the support of the
general public.
Croatia was very active in strengthening cooperation with
neighbours, and the problems which emerged in the process are a
normal part of harmonising political stances, he said.
Numerous state officials were present at the reception, including
Prime Minister Ivica Racan and ministers, parliamentary president
Zlatko Tomcic, representatives of the judiciary, financial
authorities, parliamentary parties, scientific institutions and
church officials.
