ZAGREB, June 19 (Hina) - The Association for the Protection of the
Values of the Homeland War (Honos) informed on Wednesday that
unidentified persons removed a sign placed on the entry of the
association's office two days ago and devastated the letter box.
The police did not show any interest in investigating the matter,

Despite our complaint, the police did not show interest in
investigating the matter even though this is obviously an attempt
of diversion against Honos because of all the association has done
to protect the dignity of the Homeland War, a press release signed
by the association's president Nenad Ivankovic said.
Ivankovic believes that despite the damages caused to Honos, the
public's general interest has been threatened.
This sort of attitude towards an association that is involved in
defending the values of the Homeland War will tomorrow do even more
damage to the interests of Croatian democracy, Ivankovic said.
Honos therefore calls on relevant state bodies to urgently
undertake measures to prevent any further violent acts of this
nature, the statement says.
A spokeswoman in the Zagreb police, Stanka Saraja, told Hina that
the police only received notice at midday Wednesday about the theft
of the plaque and damages done to the Honos office and immediately
proceeded to the scene.
The police took all legal measures to track down the perpetrator,
Saraja said, adding that the criminal police were included.
She claimed that there was not much damage done however, the police
were investigating the background to such a vandalous act.
