RIJEKA MAKES A DEAL WITH MAERSK SEALAND RIJEKA, June 13 (Hina) - Managers of the port of Rijeka, the Jadranska Vrata company and the Danish company "Maersk Sealand" company on Thursday signed a contract on the price and conditions of
the use of terminals of the biggest Croatian seaport.

company on Thursday signed a contract on the price and conditions of
the use of terminals of the biggest Croatian seaport. #L#
The purpose of the deal is to reroute some containers through Rijeka
instead of using the Slovene port of Kopar, Rijeka Port Director-
General Miran Cofek said. As a result, 8,000 containers will be
shipped through Rijeka annually.
Maersk Sealand, an international company for container transport,
operates with major world ports. It realises 25 percent of the
entire world transport, i.e. around 100,000 containers annually.
The port of Rijeka can currently unload 80 containers per hour.
Last year, 20,000 containers were transhipped through Rijeka, and
this year this number should be increased by 5,000.
