The remains were transferred to Vukovar in eastern Croatia. The
burial will be held in Vinkovci on May 31 under the auspices of
Croatian parliamentary president Zlatko Tomcic.
Sokcevic is credited with the creation of a whole series of economic
programmes which in the 19th century were important for Croatia's
development. He supported the struggle for the Croatian language,
which was introduced in Croatia's state and public life during his
lifetime. Sokcevic also advocated an integral Croatia. His
activity in politics, administration, and the military earned him a
permanent place in Croatian history.
