Asked if the government's returning the State Audit's report on
property transformation and privatisation for revision was "part
of Racan's electoral campaign rather than a sincere wish to
discover the thieves," Mesic said that the incumbent authorities
had been insisting on the revision of privatisation from the first
day of their mandate. "State mechanisms have obviously failed to do
their part of the job. It is good that those activities have started
now, so I would not say they are part of an election campaign, if
they are carried out well," Mesic said.
