Petritsch, who will be replaced by British diplomat Paddy Ashdown,
spoke about his results and failures in interviews with Zagreb's
"Vecernji list" and Sarajevo's "Dnevni avaz" dailies.
Alluding to Bosnian Serb leaders Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic,
Petritsch said that he was leaving his post with a feeling of
bitterness because persons wanted by the Hague war crimes tribunal
were still at large.
In the interview with the Bosnian edition of Vecernji List,
Petritsch said that the incumbent authorities in Zagreb had
established fair relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina. Petritsch
believes Croatia has an important role in maintaining a stable
Bosnia.
The Austrian diplomat believes that the most important results of
his administration are the establishment of the Alliance for
Changes coalition and constitutional changes ensuring the equality
of the country's three peoples.
He admitted that effective economic reforms did not take place
during his mandate. Asked about the next elections, Petritsch said
he expected the victory of the currently ruling parties.
He said that his forecast was based on the fact that nationalist
parties could no longer focus on their exclusive parts of territory
following the introduction of constitutional changes guaranteeing
the equality of all peoples throughout the country.
